How I started in Boudoir Photography…

Adultery can do a thing to your heart. After my divorce I couldn’t undo the feelings of failure, and loss, the mess of it all was overwhelming. By nature I’m a figure shit out kind of girl so I had to do something to “fix” me. Since it was beauty and joy I was craving, I had to find a way to create it in my life. My kids needed a better version of me. I needed a better version of me. Somehow, on a random day off, sitting in my misery, I remember sitting on my bed so overcome with the state of my life. I sold my home and was living in a condo, my husband was in a new relationship and I just couldn’t understand how this was my life. How did this happen??? It came to me so simply. I was going to use the very thing that was destroyed in my relationship, and make beauty out of it. Intimacy. Love. Vulnerability.

I had just photographed a few boudoir sessions and truly loved it. It wasn’t just empowering and a beautiful experience for the clients, it was for me as well. Being a part of someone’s love story on such a deep level felt healing somehow. So naturally, I quickly dreamed up an entirely new side of my business. A Boudoir Studio. Romantic boudoir photography for women in love. That was the win I needed. I was going to throw my self into love in spite of my ruined marriage. Regardless of my failed relationship, I still believed in love. So it began; a downtown Visalia studio with white walls, window light and a pink door. I eventually upgraded to a lovely downtown space in Exeter only to be closed by covid. After relocating to the Central Coast, I continue my boudoir business and it continues to be the win I will always need. This is the thing I’m supposed to do; capture the beauty of women.
